In their own words.

“Great experience working with [the Black Bear team]. Their mighty crew was professional, punctual, and very skilled. It’s very obvious they take pride in their work, which shows in perfectly aligned corners, clean cuts, clean workspace, and very respectful demeanor. The pricing was competitive compared to four other quotes.”

“They completed my rooftop deck—over 630 sq. ft. including the stairs and lighting—in about a week, and I’m very happy with how everything turned out. … One thing I really appreciated was how transparent [the owner] was with the pricing. He clearly explained the material, labor, and waste costs, so there were no surprises.”

“I am so pleased with my new fence. These guys were so professional and helpful. I feel they really went above and beyond. In the front, there would have been a gap between where my fence ended and it would come to the front corner of my neighbor's, which had been pieced together with scrap. [The owner] and his crew fixed this gap and it looks so perfect.”

“I’m absolutely in love with my new Deck. I’m probably not contractor’s favorite person to work for. I’m very particular and I know exactly what I want.! I could not be happier with the job that was done. Very easy to work with, and the quality and level of detail is amazing.”

“I hired B&M Modern Works LLC for my front deck project in Renton, WA—a roughly 170 sq ft L-shaped composite deck attached to my house and garage, complete with railings, stairs, and city views—and I’m thrilled with the results. … The owner visited our site at least twice before starting to ensure everything aligned with our vision, discussing details like deck depth, joist spacing, and railing placement.”

Saurabh S. · Thumbtack, March 2026

“We hired [Black Bear] to replace some stairs, railings and waterproofing under our deck, as well as refinishing our existing deck. “At first, I planned to reuse my existing frame, but their team pointed out some serious issues I hadn’t noticed. Instead of just patching things up, they built a completely new frame — giving me real value for the work they did. They also added an awning, which I’d always wanted, and it turned out beautifully.”

“We recently had the pleasure of working with [the owner] and his team from Modern Works LLC to rebuild our 650-square-foot deck with composite boards, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. … [The owner] and his crew completed the project in just 4.5 days, which was incredibly impressive given the size and scope.”
